Life's getting too mundane for me, i can't wait for school to reopen even if it means my friends are missing school due to the new quarantine regulations. Also,the font of your posting editor? New Times Roman in size 14? Eww, where's my Georgia size 5. Really, it's disturbing.

But damn, i'm going to miss the holidays to much. To be more specific, i miss the pleasure of sleeping anytime i like and waking up sometimes as early as noon. I think im procrastinating too much because i haven't done my phil. essay or my physics revision. Double ew. There were some plans i had drawn up for the week that i was unable to strike off due to certain circumstances. Hopefully, the next holiday would be more productive, with definitely no more procrastination.

You too, better put in extra effort to ace your upcoming exams. I know facebook's addictive, like i do facebook even on my blackberry. It's that addictive i agree but you better learn to curb those addictions. Yes, im referring to your hunger pangs as well. Curbbb them. (; Sigh, christabel too has been studying so effortlessly that she's ignoring my msgs on facebook. Tragic.

I won't mention the desperate part but i will not forgive you if you type "Hahahahaha" in 5 or more consecutive msg (!!) Seow Seng Chee - Vice President, A Global Financial Services Institution

Seng Chee came to Singapore with the Malaysian equivalent of a 20-point score GCE ‘O’ Level. He was told by many schools that he approached that he would not be able to do well in a 2-year ‘A’ level course.
SRJC gave him a home, and Seng Chee made the most of this treasured opportunity. He secured a place in the university with his grades:

Mathematics - A
Accounting - A
Economics - C
General Paper - A2
Malay - A1

Seng Chee finds SRJC graduates tend to have a more realistic, grounded approach, with the street smarts that enable them to survive better in the corporate jungle.

Dr Yeo Sze Ling - A*STAR Scholar and Research Engineer, Institute for Infocomm Research

Sze Ling contracted Glaucoma when she was only 4 years old, and as a result, her optic nerves were damaged and vision was reduced to mere light perception.

In 1995, Sze Ling joined SRJC and our teachers helped ensure she did not lose out in her studies for her 'A' levels, even with her visual disability. Lecture notes were sent two weeks in advance to the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) to be translated, and she had a space in the library for typing on the Braille machine. It was there that her buddy would read to her the Mathematics questions. She not only solved the questions, but also taught her peers.
Some test papers were sent for Braille translation while for others such as Mathematics, which did not have so much text, the teachers would read the questions to her during the test. This explains the close bond she has with her mathematics teacher, Dr Gui Eng Hock, whom she is still in touch with.

After she completed her A-levels, Mr Alex Lum, her Economics tutor, applied for a $3000 sponsorship from the Singapore Buddhist Lodge to finance her first year of undergraduate studies at NUS before she was offered her NUS scholarship.
She subsequently graduated with excellent results, went on to do her Bachelor's Degree, her Masters Degree and finally her Doctorate Degree which was funded by the A*STAR Graduate Scholarship.

She is currently working as a research engineer at the Institute for Infocomm Research. Her research interests revolve around the areas of number theory, cryptography and coding theory.

Koh Yah Hwee - Finalist, Star Search 2007MediaCorp Artiste

Yah Hwee was a key member of the SRJC Dance Team. Coming from a background of Chinese Dance, joining the SRJC Dance Team exposed her to other dance forms and helped her to build up a diverse repertoire of dance moves. She also honed her creative and leadership skills when she choreographed a dance routine for 25 dancers for a Community Involvement Programme in China.
Competing against artistes from Singapore, Malaysia, China and Taiwan in the Star Search 2007, her experience in SRJC enabled her to reach the finals, where she was given the Miss Telegenic title.

A MAN WITH AN EYE FOR CHANGE

Mr Tan came to SRJC in 2007 after having served a six-year tenure at Yishun Town Secondary School. He considers his greatest accomplishments there to have been enabling students, teachers and parents to find a different perspective of a neighbourhood school, to see it as a place of hope and growth, despite its humble placement in a heartland area.
With his leadership, Yishun Town Secondary grew to become one of the most sought after schools in the North Zone.

He comes to SRJC as a mover and a shaker, determined to ensure the continued progress of the college. For this reason, a new college vision has since been crafted:
Mr Tan seeks to lead the staff and students in SRJC to dream big dreams for SRJC, and to find the fire in themselves to turn these dreams into reality.

okay so yesterday and the day before yesterday,
cynthia and i had such a hard time deciding where
we should go before meeting them for late lunch (:
but eventually we decided to go to toa payoh and
we had long john's ! (:
(and she was being very, very annoying ! :D )

then we took a train up to yishun, met the
rest of them and headed to the country club (:
haven't been there in a looooong time !

had to scout around cus even though i was a
member, all of us totally failed the dress code
HAHAHA -
no slippers/flip flops
no bermudas
no running shoes
no tee-shirts (polo tee acceptable)
no shorts

so we went around, and finally found this place
by the golf course, very nice (:

so i pretty much enjoyed myself yesterday :D
econs lesson was really funny, Mr Gan gave

Also, our group proposed a resource bank, consisting of a streamline version of resources (i.e. audio slideshows, online assessments etc.) The resource bank, or rather, wikepedia on tutorials, is an advanced e-learning platform. Lesson packages would be provided, such as videos of lectures, audio discussion, a forum, reference materials and a video conference. An E-learning day would be carried out, where students would not be attending school for a day. Our project serves to find out the effectiveness, viability and feasibility of advanced e-learning through the pilot project.

Information on the go is further investigated through our pilot project as we touch on a faster platform for self-learning. The affordability would not be a problem as our group further elaborates later on. In addition, as using of cell phones are more affordable, as compared to expensive gadgets such as computers and laptops, our group has proposed a mobile version of MSN messenger for the resource bank to operate. It is relevant to our project as we aim to enhance learning via advanced e-learning through hand-held devices. The mobile version of Instant Messaging (IM) has a much faster broadband and speed. It proves a sustained effort of e-learning; it also enables students to utilize their time, regardless of their location. Students will be receiving messages and be updated about the homework that has to be completed through wireless networks, from our schools. It also allows the transfer of digital information, including music, video, and photo files. Self-learning would be enhanced through the e-learning day conducted. It is a rather complex issue to streamline and organize information and there will definitely be compatibility issue, as cell phones do have limited storage space. Furthermore, such a self-learning activity may be regarded as a distraction to many students as we might see telecommunication as a recreational activity. However the pilot project is designed to perform best on modern phones that have plenty of memory. Students will be using such a platform every day to follow dozens of educational packages that we administer, being able to read new postings in the resource bank anytime and anywhere allows us to take advantage of idle time throughout the day.
